The Octopus card company said on Monday that it will make changes to make it easier for taxi drivers to collect fares using its system.

The company has previously tried this out, but high costs and delayed payments have put off many drivers.

But the company said in the new system, drivers will only need an Android smart phone to collect fares, and transactions will be settled every day.

The card company also said it will co-operate with the government's plan to hand out transport subsidy to low-income workers via its cards next year.
