The Observatory says the Strong Wind Signal number three will remain in force for the time being, as a tropical cyclone heads towards the western coast of Guangdong.

It said, according to the present forecast track, the storm will maintain a distance of over 300 kilometres from Hong Kong.

The Observatory said, unless the tropical depression intensifies significantly or adopts a more northerly track, local winds will not strengthen significantly early on Wednesday.
