A senior executive of Now News has tendered her resignation, RTHK understands.

The news department’s vice president, Annie Cheng, texted her colleagues on Monday morning about her decision.

“The time has come,” Cheng wrote, adding she had chosen to “let things go” and “preserve the beautiful and good.”

She praised her colleagues for maintaining their professionalism during what she described as “the most stormy and rainy” year for the media industry.

Cheng said she had been considering leaving for about a year, adding that she was honoured to have, along with her team, left “precious and true records” of major historical moments over the past 16 years.

It is understood that she will leave her position in mid-August.
