  • 'No tolerance for officers who commit offences'

The police commissioner, Stephen Lo, says the force is investigating a complaint from a woman who has accused a male officer of harassing her after taking down her details during an ID check.

The woman says the officer called her afterwards and sent multiple WhatsApp messages, saying he liked her and wanted to develop a relationship.

The police chief said he believes this is an isolated incident and stressed the force takes the matter very seriously.

“Our stance is very, very clear: we do not tolerate any officer committing any crime, or committing any disciplinary offence,” he said. “We will uphold the highest standards of integrity within the force.”

Lo said that he hoped the public would appreciate that apart from a “very, very small minority of officers” who have committed offences, his officers are very committed to their duties and serving the public.
