Three of the city's major cinema operators said they will not serve food or drinks when they reopen on Thursday.
The government had earlier announced that cinemas will be among many premises allowed to reopen and operate at half of their capacity, as part of its plan to relax social distancing measures later in the week.
Authorities also gave cinemas the option to sell food and beverages to movie-goers at certain theatres, if their staff and all visitors inside the venue are triple-jabbed.
Broadway Circuit, which runs 13 cinemas across the territory, said on Tuesday it will refrain from selling food or drinks until at least April 29, without giving any reasons.
It added that its theatres will implement alternate seating, and the arrangement "must be observed" at all screenings.
MCL Cinemas and Golden Harvest Cinemas also announced on their respective websites that eating or drinking will not be allowed for the time being.
Under the current vaccine pass scheme, film-goers must have had at least one Covid shot when entering a cinema, while two jabs will be required from April 30 onwards.
Visitors must also use the government's LeaveHomeSafe app or show medical exemption certificates.
