New Scheme To Train Youngsters For Airport Jobs

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) has launched an apprenticeship course to cater to the demands of the expanding airport.
Secondary Six graduates will be eligible to join this two-year programme.
Those selected will be given a monthly stipend of HK$8,000 and on-the-job training by a partnering employer.
The areas covered in the scheme will include air cargo handling, ground services, and maintenance.
It is expected that nearly 50,000 new employees will be needed in these sectors by 2030 after the third runway becomes fully operational.
VTC assistant executive director Iu King-fung said he hopes the course can help young people find careers in the aviation industry.
