Hong Kong is set to witness another record high in its daily Covid-19 tally, with sources telling RTHK that the number of new infections on Wednesday will exceed 50,000.

That’s a sharp rise from around 32,000 cases on Tuesday.

Health officials have said the government figures might not reflect the full picture, as many people who test positive in self-administered rapid antigen tests might not have alerted the authorities.

Authorities had said the Omicron outbreak in the city was still severe, with the number of new infections doubling every two to three days.
