Police have arrested a woman on suspicion of neglect after her 12-year-old son suffered serious injuries when he fell out of a window at their home in Tsuen Wan.

The boy apparently lost his balance while hanging out clothes and plunged from the fourth floor flat onto a podium below.

The accident happened at around 8am on Tuesday.

Initially reported to have suffered injuries to his waist and leg, by Tuesday evening the boy was said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

Sources at the scene said the boy was home alone at the time of the accident.
