The former Secretary for Constitutional and Mainland Affairs, Raymond Tam, has suggested that the MTR offer concessionary tickets to local university students who travel on the high-speed rail link between Hong Kong and Guangzhou. He says this will help boost exchanges between youngsters in Hong Kong and those across the border.

Tam says he had submitted the proposal to the central government.

The Express Rail Link to Guangzhou is expected to start operating in September.
