Police have subdued a number of protesters as they tried to disperse anti-extradition demonstrators in Western.

Police and demonstrators were locked in a tense confrontation near the liaison office, before officers took action on Des Voeux Road West.

The unrest has also severely affected traffic. The MTR Corporation said westbound trains on the Island Line will stop at Sheung Wan, skipping Sai Ying Pun, HKU and Kennedy Town stations.

Police and demonstrators were also locked in a confrontation on Connaught Road West, near the Macau ferry pier.

Meanwhile, many protesters who had marched from Chater Garden to Causeway Bay earlier in the day were seen heading towards Sheung Wan, in what they said was a show of solidarity with other demonstrators.
