Manulife Asia and Ant Health signed an MOU on September 7.

The agreement will build connected healthcare services for customers in Hong Kong and mainland China.

Customers often face a fragmented healthcare journey. They juggle multiple enquiries and coordinate each treatment step on their own, and the deal aims to fix that.

The framework covers four areas including health management, cross-boundary healthcare support, digital health and insurance technology.

“The integration of health insurance and health services has become a major trend in enhancing users’ medical service experience,”

said Zhang Junjie, Vice President of Ant Group and Head of the Health Business.

The companies will explore health management services for Manulife customers.

These include case management, concierge support, and medical network and patient services.

On insurance technology, they plan to explore health value-added services and design support. They will also look at cross-boundary claims and payment support.

Other areas may be added by mutual agreement, including health insights, industry research and standards.

The MOU covers Hong Kong SAR and the Chinese mainland first with plans to extend the collaboration to other Asia markets over time.
