A 57-year-old former care home warden has been sentenced to 33 months in jail for sexually assaulting a visually-impaired girl on five occasions more than three decades ago.
Cheung Kin-wah, who was also born with sight problems, was found guilty last month of five counts of indecent assault.
He had carried out the attacks while he studied and later worked at a school for the disabled.
The incidents took place between 1982 and 1986, with the abuse starting when the victim was just seven years old.
In passing sentence, District Court judge Ernest Lin said Cheung had systematically assaulted the victim over a long period of time and she has since been haunted by fear and shame.
The judge added that Cheung abused his power as a teacher, and said a deterrent sentence was needed to reflect that the offences were against basic humanity.
Cheung had once headed a nursing home company. He had been accused of raping a mentally disabled woman in 2014 at a rehabilitation centre, but that charge was dropped because the woman was unable to testify.
