Firefighters are battling a major blaze covering an area of some 200 metres by 80 metres at the Tuen Mun River Trade Terminal.
The fire broke out in a one-storey building at about 4.35am on Sunday and was upgraded to a No.3 alarm fire about 20 minutes later.
Firefighters are using jets and breathing apparatus in an attempt to fight the fire. No casualties have been reported so far.
The terminal, opened in 1998, is a joint venture between Hutchison Ports and Sun Hung Kai Properties. The port handles more than 48,000 vessels a year, according to its operator.
