Officials on Sunday morning warned of rather long waits for Covid tests at the Shenzhen Bay Control Point, urging travellers to avoid going there until later in the day.
A government spokesman said the waiting time for the special nucleic acid test prior to departure was "rather long due to the large outbound passenger flow during the morning peak hours".
The spokesman said people could expect to wait for around three hours to undergo the test during peak hours.
Travellers were advised not to go to the control point until after 3pm, with the time it takes to get the test said to be around two hours in non-peak periods.
The government said on Saturday that testing capacity at Shenzhen Bay Port had been enhanced in light of increasing demand.
The control point operates between 9am and 8pm for passenger clearance, with the tests provided between 8am and 6.30pm.
