To further support mainland tourists’ travel and spending in Macau and to encourage integration within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, Macau Pass and Alipay have introduced a top-up service allowing users to recharge their mCards via Alipay from September 26.

Users can now top up their mCards at any time through the MPay app or the Alipay app, enabling smoother use of public transportation and other services across Macau.

The mCard has long been a key tool for mainland tourists visiting Macau, offering up to 50% discounts on buses and light rail transit, while also supporting payments for dining, shopping, entertainment, and other services.

The new Alipay top-up function allows verified users to recharge physical mCards directly through the “Group Buying-Macau Pass mPass” mini-program within the Alipay app, using iOS or Android devices with NFC functionality.

The cumulative top-up limit per Alipay account is 5,000 MOP per calendar year, accommodating regular small expenses and family trips.

The service includes balance and transaction queries.

Users can check their mCard balance and the last nine desensitised transaction records from the past three months by tapping their card via NFC or entering the card number in the mCard section of the mini-program.

They can also access the last 100 top-up records made via Alipay over the past three months.

The top-up function is compatible with all retail or personalised mCards bearing the “NFC Top-Up” logo.

Since the launch of the “Macau Pass-China T-Union” mCard in December 2024, Macau Pass has collaborated with regional institutions to issue co-branded cards, including the “Lingnan Pass-Macau Pass China T-Union Card”, “Shenzhen-Macau Intercity Card”, and “Zhuhai-Macau Joint Public Transit Card”.

These cards use dual-currency and dual-wallet technology, supporting payments in both MOP and CNY.

They can be used for public transport in more than 300 mainland cities covered by the China T-Union system, as well as at nearly 30,000 terminals in Macau for transport, retail, dining, and entertainment.

Currently, cardholders can top up their MOP wallet via the mCard section in the mini-program on Alipay.
