Four members of the League of Social Democrats on Wednesday staged a protest against Beijing's decision to change Hong Kong's electoral system.
The pro-democracy party's Raphael Wong and Avery Ng said they wanted to tell Beijing officials they oppose small-circle elections, adding that they demand immediate universal suffrage.
Police officers checked Wong's backpack and ID before the activists marched in Wan Chai, where mainland officials were holding seminars at the Convention and Exhibition Centre for the third day in a row to gauge "public opinion" on the electoral overhaul.
The National People's Congress last week endorsed a proposal to expand the mandate and size of the election committee in the SAR for it to select some and vet all lawmakers in future.
The number of Legco seats is also to increase from 70 to 90, but further details of the overhaul are yet to be announced by the NPC Standing Committee.
