  • Liaison Office opens its doors to the public

The Central Government's Liaison Office in Western has opened its doors to members of the public for the first time. The visitors, from Beijing-friendly community groups, were given a tour of a number of reception, meeting and activity rooms, and were shown around the canteen where snacks were on offer.

In his opening speech, the head of the liaison office, Wang Zhimin, said he hopes the open days - held on Saturday and Sunday - can erase the mysterious impression people have of the liaison office and let the public know more about the work of mainland officials in Hong Kong.

Around 1,500 guests have been invited for the two-day event.
