Civic Party lawmaker Tanya Chan has undergone brain surgery and is now recovering, a message posted on her Facebook account said on Tuesday.
A brief note said that after taking some rest, Chan would give people more details about her latest condition if doctors allow her to.
The message said the legislator hopes to keep a low-profile as she recuperates, so that her family and friends aren't put under pressure. The post also said Chan hoped the media would respect her wishes.
The post also thanked staff at the hospital where Chan was treated, as well as her supporters for their well-wishes.
Chan revealed last month that she had a tumour on her brain that was a little bigger than a ping pong ball.
The announcement came shortly after the councillor was convicted of public nuisance charges relating to the 2014 pro-democracy Occupy Movement.
The District Court accepted her request for her to be sentenced at a later date because of the brain condition and sentencing was adjourned until June 10.
