The government's land supply task force on Thursday started an online survey on 18 options it has come up with to find land for public housing.

This is a part of an ongoing five-month public consultation on the matter.

The survey is being carried out with the help of Hong Kong University's social sciences research centre. Efforts will be made to detect and catch bids to submit more than one entry, the centre said.

A phone survey on around 3,000 people will also be carried out in August.

The task force has said the views collected from the public will be considered when it compiles its recommendations for the government.

Some critics have argued that the questionnaire in the task force's survey is biased and is tailored into getting responses that favour reclamation and the use of country park land. They say the survey does not give people a choice to pick brownfield sites as their preferred option.

Democratic party lawmaker Andrew Wan said the new online survey is the same. This will also guide people taking part in the poll towards certain particular results, he said.

The green group, Green Sense, said the structure of the survey has made the whole public consultation meaningless. It wanted the survey has to be withdrawn and re-designed.
