KPay now allows its Hong Kong merchants to accept in-person contactless payments using Tap to Pay on iPhone.

The feature enables businesses to take contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets directly through an iPhone running the KPay iOS app, without additional hardware.

At checkout, merchants prompt customers to place their contactless payment method near the merchant’s iPhone, with transactions completed through NFC technology.

Tap to Pay on iPhone also supports PIN entry, including accessibility options.

The feature uses the iPhone’s built-in security measures to protect business and customer information.

Apple does not store card numbers or transaction data on the device or Apple servers.

“Tap to Pay on iPhone offers our merchants unparalleled flexibility in store or on-the-go, and is especially suitable for Hong Kong’s vibrant F&B and leisure industries. It lowers the barrier to collecting payments, fuels the growth of microbusinesses, and unlocks scalable opportunities for high-volume chains and pop-up events.”

Mastercard, a strategic partner of KPay, is supporting the rollout.

Merchants can activate contactless acceptance through the KPay app on an iPhone XS or later with the latest version of iOS.

Hong Kong businesses may also access device and data plan offers through Hong Kong Telecommunications via participating payment platforms.
