Bus operator KMB said on Friday that it will install seat belts on more than 800 of its buses by the end of this year.
The bus operator has implemented a series of changes to improve safety, after a bus crash in Tai Po killed 19 people on February 10 last year.
KMB said new buses purchased from last March already came with belts on all seats; and it will work to install belts on the upper deck of existing buses - with priority given to those running long-haul and highway routes.
The bus company also said that new buses arriving this year will be equipped with electronic stabilising systems which improves the stability of the vehicle.
Another 4,300 buses will also have alarms installed this year to alert drivers when they go over the speed limit.
