A Tsuen Wan office of lawmaker Junius Ho was trashed on Monday afternoon by a large group of protesters who accused the pro-Beijing politician of being behind Sunday night’s violence in Yuen Long.
Hours earlier at a press conference, Ho had vigorously denied any suggestion of involvement.
In a video widely circulated on social media, the lawmaker had greeted a group of people in white shirts, congratulating some of them and shaking hands with them. But he denied involvement in the night's violence, saying he was only reaching out to residents as a lawmaker representing his constituency.
However, Ho’s remarks did not appear to appease the protesters who surrounded his office. The office had been closed for the day.
Part of a glass wall around the office inside Tsuen Fung Centre was completely shattered. Other walls were covered in posters and memos, some of which suggested a link between the violent gangs that carried out the attack the previous day and the police force.
