  • John Lee inspects new Covid facility in San Tin

Chief Secretary John Lee on Wednesday inspected a new isolation facility in San Tin that’s ready to receive Covid-19 patients with no or mild symptoms.

Completed within two weeks, it is the second of a number of facilities Beijing is helping to build amid this wave of outbreaks in Hong Kong.

The site, lent to the government by private developers, provides some 2,800 beds in 720 rooms.

Speaking after visiting the site, Lee said the project represented “professionalism, an all-out effort, and national sentiment”.

Meanwhile, he noted that around 1,000 rooms in another facility in Tsing Yi had already been occupied.

A designated team deployed by the Security Bureau will continue to provide food, newspaper and toys for children, as well as improve communication with patients in there, he added.
