Demosisto leader Joshua Wong told the Small Claims Tribunal on Thursday that he was made to strip and make various poses by prison officials and they only did it to humiliate him.
Wong was giving the tribunal a detailed account of what he said he was forced to do when he was jailed in 2017 over the Occupy protests. The former student leader is seeking HK$16,000 in compensation from the Correctional Services Department.
Wong said that when he was sent to the Tung Tau Correctional Institution, he was stripped naked before officers carried out a body search.
He was then told to squat and look up while officers questioned him for around five minutes.
Wong said officers told him at the time that they had to make sure he could properly use the squat toilet.
But Wong told the tribunal he believes the guards just like to demonstrate their authority and strip inmates of their dignity
Wong added that he was also told to make various postures while naked for officers to examine his private parts, anus, and feet.
