The Immigration Department says it's working with the family of a Hong Kong man who was killed in a snorkelling accident in the Philippines on Saturday.
It said his name was Yeung, but gave no further details. Mainland consular officials in the Philippines are also helping the dead man's family.
Philippine news media reported that Yeung was snorkelling in an area known for its turtles when he was hit by the propeller of a boat on Saturday.
He suffered a severe head injury and was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
The Travel Industry Council said the boat's 28-year-old captain had been arrested.
Local media also quoted the boat captain as saying that he was aware of snorkelers, but didn't expect one to surface while his boat was passing.
Yeung was believed to be on holiday with his family.
