The former Chief Secretary John Lee - who is running for Chief Executive - said on Sunday he had secured around 300 nominations from Election Committee members.

A person hoping to stand for Chief Executive must get at least 188 nominations with at least 15 from each of the committee's five sectors.

Speaking to reporters, Lee said he was thankful to the vice chairman of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, former Chief Executive CY Leung, who went to his election office in Wan Chai to give him his nomination form.

Lee said he had held two virtual meetings with 130 Election Committee members and that he'd received valuable feedback.

"I am now working hard to pen my political platform. So the feedback will help me complete the work as soon as possible," he said.

"All [Election Committee] members who were present supported my bid for election and my policy directions."

The head of Lee's CE campaign office, Tam Yiu-chung, said the preliminary political platform should be announced at the end of the month.

Lee said he would unite society, and cited the distribution of anti-epidemic packs as an example of making an all-out effort.

When asked whether there was mishandling on his part in relation to the extradition saga in 2019, Lee - who was then the security minister - said there would be a "fair evaluation" in the fullness of time.

He said the administration had wanted to do its part in combating cross-border crime, and that it "was well-known that foreign forces had interfered."
