  • I've asked more mainland experts to come help us: CE

Chief Executive Carrie Lam said on Thursday that she had asked the central government to send a delegation of Chinese medicine experts to Hong Kong to help fight the Covid-19 outbreak.

She told a daily press briefing that Hong Kong should learn from the mainland and make good use of Chinese medicine to treat Covid patients.

“I strongly believe that another team of Chinese medicine experts from the mainland will offer great support to our anti-epidemic work,” she said.

Lam noted that Hong Kong's coronavirus situation is improving, but the government would not be complacent, because the city is still seeing about 200 deaths per day while the hospitalisation rate among the elderly is still high.

The chief executive of the Hospital Authority, Tony Ko, meanwhile, said mainland experience showed Chinese medicine could effectively relieve symptoms such as coughing, constipation and fatigue in Covid patients.
