HSBC Hong Kong has launched the HSBC Privé World Legend Mastercard, becoming the first bank in the Asia Pacific region to offer the payment network’s most premium consumer credit tier.

HSBC Private Bank targets the invitation-only credit card specifically at its clients.

The bank automatically upgrades existing HSBC Privé cardholders from their current World Elite Mastercard status to the new World Legend tier.

The upgrade grants cardholders access to The Mastercard Collection, a newly introduced global suite of elevated travel, dining, and entertainment benefits.

Sunny Chow, Head of Cards and Unsecured Lending at HSBC Hong Kong, said the launch reflects the current direction of premium banking.

“Privé clients increasingly value meaningful experiences, and this invitation-only card allows us to respond with a proposition that is more distinctive, more portable and more personal,”

Chow said.

Focusing on global mobility

Mastercard data indicates that 59% of consumers in higher-income brackets globally value experiences over physical possessions. In Hong Kong, 40% of these consumers cite overseas travel as a top personal priority.

The new card tier addresses this by offering complimentary stays at more than 800 luxury hotel properties worldwide, including Rosewood, Raffles, and Fairmont.

Cardholders also receive companion travel privileges, such as complimentary first and business-class flight tickets, limousine services, and comprehensive travel insurance.

Exclusive local and global access

Beyond travel, the card provides access to Michelin-starred dining experiences and priority reservations at prestigious restaurants across mainland China.

Cardholders will also gain entry to exclusive entertainment events, including premium suite access at the Kai Tak Sports Park and priority ticket bookings for selected Live Nation shows.

Later this year, Mastercard plans to open an exclusive dining club at Hong Kong International Airport.

HSBC Privé primary and supplementary cardholders will receive unlimited complimentary access to the airport space, with the ability to bring up to three guests per visit.

Mastercard intends to expand these dining clubs to other major global airports in the future.
