  • Hong Kong logs 3,436 new Covid cases

Health authorities on Monday reported 3,436 new Covid infections, including 254 that were imported.

Officials said 1,182 Covid patients were being treated in public hospitals, including 149 new admissions. Four patients were in intensive care.

The Hospital Authority reported three new deaths, involving a man and two women aged between 58 and 101.

Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan from the Centre for Health Protection said dozens of children at St. Catherine's International Kindergarten & Nursery in Kowloon Tong had been put in quarantine over a widening outbreak linked to a school bus route.

Chuang said authorities first detected infections among the bus drivers, but now more students had come down with the disease.

"In the [morning] session of that bus, there are also four students affected ... We note that in two classes there may be some transmission. That's why we have advised precautionary suspensions for the two classes ... Hopefully this will help curb the spread in the classes," she said.
