Health authorities on Thursday reported 674 new Covid infections, comprising 332 via PCR tests and 342 RAT-positive cases that have now been confirmed by laboratory tests.

Thursday's tally was a 20 percent jump from 558 infections recorded a day earlier.

Among the latest cases, 73 were imported, including 38 detected among arrivals at the airport and 28 picked up at quarantine hotels.

Health authorities also reported 90 cases from 81 schools.

The Centre for Health Protection (CHP) has asked 25 primary students of a school in To Kwa Wan to stop attending classes for one week over a cluster of infections there. Three students and a teacher at one class of Po Leung Kuk Lam Man Chan English Primary School have tested positive for Covid-19.

The CHP also noted a part-time worker at a quarantine hotel on Lantau had contracted an Omicron subvariant. The 46-year-old woman works at Regala Skycity Hotel.
