Hong Kong's daily Covid tally surpassed 6,000 on Thursday for the first time since March.
Of the 6,054 cases, 247 were imported. There were five more Covid-related deaths.
Health officials said 1,886 patients were being treated in hospital, with nine of them in intensive care.
The Centre for Health Protection's Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan said since the inbound travel restrictions were relaxed to three days of hotel quarantine plus four days of medical surveillance at home, around 20 percent of imported cases have been found during the medical surveillance period.
At the daily pandemic press briefing, she said this was roughly what officials had expected to happen.
