The Centre for Health Protection on Saturday reported 2,227 coronavirus cases, including 143 imported ones.
Of the 2,084 locally-transmitted infections, around a third were identified in laboratories while the rest were via rapid test results later confirmed by the authorities.
The CHP also reported that three more Covid patients had died.
"As the local situation of Covid-19 infection is still severe, the CHP strongly appeals to the community to continue to comply with social distancing measures, avoid going out and refrain from participating in unnecessary or crowded activities or gatherings," said a Centre for Health Protection spokesman in a press release.
The government announced earlier on Saturday that it would not hold a press briefing on the latest Covid situation because of Typhoon Chaba.
Meanwhile, the government has suspended a Turkish Airlines route from Istanbul from July 3 to 7, after the number of infected passengers aboard one flight reached a set limit.
