Owen Chow, 24, faces a subversion charge over his participation in a Legco primary held by the pro-democracy camp last summer.

The High Court on Tuesday granted bail to another of the 47 people facing a subversion charge for taking part in the pro-democracy camp’s Legco primaries last year.

Owen Chow, 24, was released on a cash bail of HK$50,000 and a surety of another HK$50,000.

Justice Esther Toh ordered the national security suspect to surrender all his travel documents and not to leave Hong Kong.

He has to report to the police every evening, observe an overnight curfew and can't contact any prosecution witnesses.

The judge also told Chow not to make any speeches or take part in any behaviour that could be seen as endangering national security.

She barred him from participating in any elections or contacting foreign officials – conditions that were also imposed on others granted bail in the case.

Authorities in March charged 47 pro-democracy figures, including around a dozen former lawmakers, with conspiracy to commit subversion in connection with the primary polls the pro-democracy camp held last summer to pick candidates for Legco elections that never took place in the end.

Twelve of the suspects have now been granted bail.
