The Centre for Health Protection said on Saturday that Hong Kong added 3,533 local Covid infections and 229 imported cases.

The infected travellers had flown in from places including the UK, Singapore, Thailand and the US.

Officials also reported the death of one more Covid patient - a 72-year-old man who was suffering from cancer and was not vaccinated.

The Hospital Authority said 1,108 people infected with the coronavirus were receiving hospital treatment, including four in intensive care.
