Officers at Kwun Tong Police Station drew their guns in the early hours of Tuesday after a man allegedly attacked one of their colleagues with a hammer.

The force alleged that a man entered the station's car park shortly after midnight and used a hammer to hit an officer on the hand.

It said the man ignored verbal warnings to drop the hammer, and so officers pulled out their guns, but did not fire.

The man was pepper-sprayed and subdued, police said, adding that a second officer also hurt his hand during the arrest.

Police said the two injured officers were taken to hospital for treatment while a 45-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of wounding and possessing an offensive weapon.
