  • Govt to do all it can to push patriotic education: CE

Chief Executive John Lee on Saturday said the government will spare no effort in pushing patriotic education, and correcting the wrong values of young people who have been misled.

Speaking at the unveiling ceremony of a patriotic education centre founded by the Federation of Education Workers, Lee said some people in the past had colluded with foreign forces and stigmatised national education.

He said teenagers are the future of Hong Kong and successors of the One Country, Two Systems enterprise, and their national identity needs to be nurtured from a young age.

The leader said the Education Bureau will offer full support to schools in planning and implementing national education, so students will learn Chinese history and values, respect symbols of the country, as well as understand the importance of the Constitution, Basic Law and national security.

He also called on the education sector to make good use of the patriotic education centre and share their experience in patriotic education.
