The SAR government is in talks with other countries over recognizing an electronic record for Covid-19 vaccination due to be rolled out on an official app – so local residents may use it for travel purpose.
That's according to the Secretary for Innovation and Technology, Alfred Sit, who spoke after the government launched the iAm Smart app on Saturday.
Among a range of functions, he said people can book Covid-19 inoculations via the app, and he expects this to happen before Chinese Lunar New Year holiday when the vaccination programme rolls out in the city.
He added that the application has only been available for download since Wednesday, and he did not know how many people have downloaded it.
And Sit said the app can also help to remind people when it's time to get the second dose of the right vaccine.
He said the government is also considering allowing residents to use the vaccination record stored in the app for travel purposes, but it's discussing this with other countries.
