  • Govt 'concerned' about contractor performance

The acting chief executive, Matthew Cheung, says authorities are highly concerned about the performance of major construction firm Leighton, which has been embroiled in a spate of incidents involving shoddy works at various MTR projects.

Cheung said the company is expected to submit a report to the government shortly, and authorities will then take follow-up action to make sure that it is able to manage major government projects properly.

He said the Development Bureau asked the company to provide information about its work on the Hung Hom station of the MTR’s Sha Tin-Central line, as well as the excavation and support work for the future Exhibition station.
