The government on Monday ordered compulsory Covid testing at a dozen schools, comprising a primary school, kindergartens and nursery schools across the territory, following outbreaks of upper respiratory tract infections and flu-like illnesses at the institutions.
Anyone who had been to the affected schools for more than two hours from October 26 to November 8 are required to get tested – unless they have already been fully vaccinated for Covid-19.
A government statement said the move is being taken out of prudence, as symptoms exhibited by those affected are similar to those of Covid patients.
Affected adults are required to get swabbed, though young children can provide stool samples on account of their age.
