The expert committee that looks into adverse clinical events following vaccination says it will no longer make public announcements every time a recently vaccinated person dies, instead only making a statement if there is a potential association with the vaccine.

The Expert Committee on Clinical Events Assessment Following Covid-19 Immunisation said in a statement that from July, it will produce a monthly report on the safety monitoring of Covid-19 vaccines.

The committee said the report would be published online and that statistics would be uploaded regularly.

It said between May 17 and May 30, the Department of Health had received one death report from the Hospital Authority that met the criteria for reporting a serious adverse event.

The case was announced on May 21 and involved a 44-year-old woman.

The expert committee said its preliminary findings were that the case was not associated with the vaccination, and that clinical information and preliminary autopsy findings pointed to heart disease as the cause of death.
