The Hospital Authority on Wednesday said a chronically ill 81-year-old woman with Covid-19 had died, taking Hong Kong's death toll at public hospitals for patients with the disease to 189.

The woman had been admitted to Caritas Medical Centre at the end of last month with a fever and upper respiratory tract infection symptoms. She later tested positive for the coronavirus before dying on Wednesday evening.

The hospital said it was saddened by her death and would offer necessary assistance to her family members.
