An elderly man was taken to hospital with head injuries on Sunday after apparently being knocked down by a police car in Sham Shui Po.

The incident happened at around 6am as the 83-year-old was crossing at the junction of Lai Chi Kok Road and Pei Ho Street.

Police said the man was conscious when he was taken to Princess Margaret Hospital for treatment.

The driver of the car, who was on duty at the time, passed a breathalyser test, police said.
