The Health Secretary Sophia Chan says a government decision requiring primary school and kindergarten students to take an early break for the Lunar New Year holiday, has helped in fighting the spread of flu.
Thousands of children were granted the longer break ahead of the holiday because of an outbreak of the disease.
Professor Chan says doctors have seen fewer children being admitted to hospitals with flu since last week, when the measure was brought in.
She said students will return to school as scheduled.
