The Electoral Affairs Commission (EAC) said on Tuesday that it will publicise the results of its investigation into the loss of a register containing the personal details of about 8,000 voters.

It was revealed last month that data for voters from Tsing Yi during the 2016 Legco elections had gone missing.

The EAC probe is expected to be completed by early July, according to the commission chairman, Barnabas Fung.

Fung says staff who are independent of the Registration and Electoral Office have been hired to help with the investigation.

Fung added that the Registration and Electoral Office will strengthen security measures to safeguard voter data in future.
