Over 30 people have been taken to hospital after feeling unwell at a ballroom in Tsim Sha Tsui, apparently after the ventilation system developed a problem.
Dozens of people complained of feeling sick around 9pm on Friday at a private function on the 9th floor of the BCC Building on Canarvon Road.
A number of people received treatment at the scene but at least 32 were taken to hospital. Thirteen were sent to Queen Elizabeth Hospital, nine to Kwong Wah Hospital, and 10 to the Caritas Medical Centre.
One witness said there were hundreds of people in the room, and several began feeling dizzy and fainting around 9pm. He said there are no windows at the venue, which relies on air-conditioning.
Firefighters are investigating whether there was a gas leak of if carbon monoxide had accumulated in the ventilation system.
