Ngai Hok-yan talks to RTHK's Janice Wong

Veteran structural engineer Ngai Hok-yan said on Thursday that it is suspicious that so many documents relating to the MTR Corporation’s Hung Hom Station expansion have gone missing.

On Wednesday, government officials revealed that unapproved changes were made in more areas of the station for the Shatin-Central Link than previously thought, and a large chunk of critical paperwork related to the construction has gone missing.

Ngai said records like these do get misplaced during large scale construction projects. But usually there will be multiple copies which will distributed among different parties involved in the process.

He said he believes in this case, some people may have destroyed the records on purpose as no copies seem to exist.

Ngai told RTHK's Janice Wong that the government should review all existing, verifiable records to ensure that the station structures are safe.
