A hospital in Wong Tai Sin ordered one of its doctors to quarantine on Saturday after a woman who attended its outpatient clinic tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

The 73-year-old woman went to Our Lady of Maryknoll Hospital on Friday, complaining of a dry cough.

After her Covid test came back preliminary positive, the hospital's infection control team carried out contact tracing, identifying a doctor who checked the patient's throat without using eye protection as a close contact. The hospital is arranging quarantine for her and has suspended her clinical duties.

The suspected Covid patient was reported to be in a stable condition. The hospital says it has arranged thorough cleansing and disinfection in the general out-patient clinic and reminded staff to remain vigilant and use appropriate protective equipment when carrying out high-risk procedures.

Separately, the police say a 46-year-old constable in the Tsim Sha Tsui Division has tested preliminary positive. The man lives at Ying Kwai House, one of three blocks of the Kwai Chung Estate that was subject to a week-long lockdown.

The officer last went to work on January 20 and the force says he wore a face mask while on duty.
