About 100 officers from the disciplinary forces will join a contact-tracing team and help track down people who came into contact with Covid patients, health officials said on Thursday.
Dr Chuang Shuk-kwan of the Centre for Health Protection said police, immigration and customs officers will start working with medical staff at a new command centre in Kai Tak from Monday.
"We will give them a briefing and then we'll provide on-the-job training because the training may involve actual working under supervision," she said.
Chuang also said the disciplinary officers would look for those close contacts at their homes if they can’t be reached by phone.
Hong Kong on Thursday reported 33 new coronavirus infections, 29 of which are locally acquired.
Five of the latest local cases could not be traced.
Eleven of the new infections are linked to an outbreak at the construction site of the Tsueng Kwan O - Lam Tin Tunnel.
About 30 other people have tested preliminary positive for the virus.
