A mentally disabled woman appeared in Eastern Magistrates' Court on Thursday accused of gouging her sister's eye out.
The defendant, 59, has been charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm after her 66-year-old sister's left eyeball was almost completely detached in the incident in Tai Hang on April 30.
The accused, who is suspected of having the mental capacity of a three-year-old, was unable to respond when the charge was read out.
The magistrate adjourned the case for two weeks and ordered a psychiatric report to see whether the woman is fit to stand trial.
The sister the woman is accused of attacking has been bed-bound since being diagnosed with cancer in 2017.
