Legal sector lawmaker Dennis Kwok says those Executive Council members who spoke in support of the Chief Executive Carrie Lam's extradition bill should resign, calling them hypocrites.
"This level of hypocrisy is astounding. You see Exco members like Regina Ip, Ronny Tong, Bernard Chan - previously all supporters of the bill – saying 'Oh, resistance is futile. There's no point coming out to protest. Numbers are not a relevant consideration,'" he said. "All these people should resign."
Lam's extradition bill has drawn three massive protests in over a week, with calls for her to resign and withdraw it.
Kwok said he thought certain Exco members were shameful and they had also caused the huge protests.
"Now they are trying to wash their hands," he said. "Especially Regina Ip.'
Kwok says Lam is now refusing to use the word withdrawal simply to save face. He said many people would have found her apology on Tuesday to be unsatisfactory.
On Tuesday, Lam gave what she described as a sincere apology for the extradition bill fiasco, which saw two demonstrations of over a million people, according to organisers.
Kwok said he'll move a motion of no-confidence in the Chief Executive and her administration on Wednesday.
